Theresa May makes an impressive entrance at Conservative Party Conference 2018

Members of Scarborough and Whitby Conservative Association attended Party Conference in Birmingham this week.

A vast range of fringe events were held enabling every subject possible to be discussed and debated. Staff from CCHQ were also on hand to help with any training issues or questions regarding campaigning and using technology to reach electors more effectively.

The personal highlight of the week for myself as an elected member was attending the Northern Powerhouse Leaders Lunch with other elected members and MPs including Rt Hon Robert Goodwill and Kevin Hollinrake from Thirsk and Malton. It was an ideal opportunity to meet others such as the North Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner and leading campaigners from across the North.

Mrs May’s entranceĀ for the closing speech of the conference was accompanied by the Abba song “Dancing Queen” and showed a human and humorous side of our party leader. The speech was a marked improvement on last year and left the hall with the message that we need to ensure everyone in our United Kingdom shares in the vision offered by the Conservative Party, one of compassion and opportunity for all but underpinned by an emphasis on personal freedom and the responsibilities that come with that.
